Lump Inside Ear. Hurts To Touch, Bleeding. What Might It Be?

Hi, Dr. Bhatti, I have had a lump inside my ear like right in the middle behind the ear drum for a little onowver two weeks now. I haven t went to get it checked out because I wasn t sure if it was just a pimple , but I haven t had anything like that before & I was concerned that it was a cyst . It hurts when I touch it & I just looked at it after applying pressure & it is bleeding . Any idea what it might be???

Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. Your description of the location of this lump is a little confusing. Can you share a close-up image? If not, you will need a direct examination by a local physician. Did you attempt to clean your ears? Do you wear any ear rings?

2. This seems to be an ordinary furuncle, and it has ruptured on pressure, leading to bleeding. If the bleeding is minimal, and your hearing is normal, apply a local antiseptic cream for a few days and take an anti-inflammatory for a couple of days.

3. It has been only two weeks, so this should not be a cause for worry, unless it increases in size, pain, bleeding or persists.

Regards.
