Low Grade Fever With Cough, Burning In Upper Part Of Chest And White Coating On Tongue

I have had a low grade fever (99.1-100.3) for 3 days, accompanied with a cough that feels like it burns in the upper part of my chest when I do so. Just today I noticed a white coating on my tongue. I ve just been taking OTC Mucinex D and iburophen off and on. Should I be concerned about the white tongue?

Hi welcome to the health care magic

Tongue coating can be seen because of fever.

You can have viral respiratory tract infection.
But if improvement not seen in 3 days with decongestant and home remedy like hot water, turmeric powder, steam inhalation etc than further work up needed as follow....
_Auscultation
_CBC
_chest x ray if needed

You might given antibiotic course If no improvement

Drink lots of water

Avoid excess spicy foods

Hope your concern solved
