Lost Weight, Loss Of Energy, Goiters, Nauseated, Shivers. Overactive Thyroid. TSH Test Show Abnormal Results. Explain Situation

I suspect I have an overactive thyroid and have had symptoms over five years. I lose weight and energy very easily, although I am a very healthy 41 year old female, exercise regularly, and eat very generously. I am most concerned with the choking symptoms I am having. I would like to know if there are other conditions that mimic hyperthyroidism, goiters, or relate to the symptoms of those conditions.
My TSH test results are a few points below the lowest range of normal, but T4 and T3 are normal. My doctor said it is not out of the normal range and that confused me. Is it possible to have these results and still have an overactive thyroid? My coughing attacks happen with barely any symptoms or warning at all and I find myself choking instantly on thick saliva unable to speak or get air when it happens. My eyes water profusely while I am choking and I have to leave the room. I cough air out but gasp and choke trying to breathe in and it keeps going on for a few minutes to a half hour until I can find a place to sit and rest. It happens at work, home, during meals, during activity, at rest, or wakes me from my sleep in the morning. Afterward my throat remains very swollen and feels thick when I swallow and I am extremely nauseated, shaky, and ill-feeling with a swollen throat and extremely hoarse voice. I cannot talk much or I begin choking again and again.
Any knowledge or ideas are appreciated!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
You are 41 yrs healthy lady. You don't have Hyperthyroidism as per the results. I guess if I start to explain why I say that it will be elaborate one.
Your main complaints are Losing of weight, energy, cough with choking without any prior symptoms. The cough associated with choking comes any time in your routine and sleep.
That clearly indicates that you have allergic problem - not known - which make your bronchial tree constrict producing cough with thick saliva and choke - which is relieved by change of atmosphere, walk with a free air. The same allergy or even your prolonged cough can produce edema throat.
Regarding the Treatment
1) Forget Hyperthyroidism
2) Do all relevant basic blood tests
3) X- Ray Chest and if warranted CT thorax
4) A Spirometry examination to assess the lung function
5) ENT examination - for throat examination and if you are snoring discuss with him.
6) Keep a diary and write under what circumstances (AC room, chill climate, particular smell, smoke, particular food etc., which triggers your symptoms. After 10 days you can find yourself the triggering factors.
7) Prevent respiratory infection
8) Meanwhile Anti histamine tab in the night may be useful
9) If possible check your O2 saturation during the attack
This may seem elaborate, but indicated to determine the etiology
I'm wishing you a speedy recovery
