Leukocytes High In Urinalysis. Does That Indicate UTI?
I went to the doctor today and they did a urinalysis. it indicated leukocytes were at 500 wbc/u L. does that indicate a uti? I was told it was going to be sent to the lab for testing. She told me that she didn't think it was a result of contamination. All other aspects of the test were normal or negative, and my p.h. was 5.0 & s.g. is 1.025. If it is not a uti, what is the cause of the high number of leukocytes? would that still be treated as an infection? She put me on macrobid 100 mg, 2 times a day for 7 days while they do the lab.
Hello Thanks for your query, based on the facts that you have posted it appears that you have done your urine analysis which revealed presence of plenty of leukocytes.
Please get your urine culture done to find out the organisms causing this infection and antibiotics to which they are sensitive to.
Continue taking antibiotics prescribed by your physician and later on switch on to appropriate antibiotic as per culture report.
Ensure to drink more water.to keep your urine dilute.
