I've Taken Sulfasaline For More Than 25 Years With No

I've taken sulfasaline for more than 25 years with no problems. I would cut back to two pills instead of three whenever allergies weren't bad, which is what triggers my colitis. About 18 months ago, my gastroenterologist told me to take all three pills every day and to take them all at the same time so I wouldn't miss any. After doing that, my next CBC from my primary doctor showed an elevated MCV reading, and it has continued to go up. I was referred to a hematologist, who put me on B12 and folic acid supplements and retested me in six weeks. And the reading had gone up again. He's going to retest again in three months, and if the read is still high (107) and if my hemoglobin has gone down I'll have to have a bone marrow biopsy. What can I do to bring down the reading? I don't drink alcohol as I'm on Keppra.
