Itchy Bum. Used Antihistamine Cream. What Are The Findings And Required Treatment?

Hi my 6 year old son complained of an itchy bum this morning. When I looked there was about 10 raised spots in a circle patch. I put sme antihistamine cream on and he said they felt much better. I assumed that these maybe bites and so have now washed his bed linen and given his mattress a good Hoover. He now has come home from school showing me a second cluster of raised pimples. These are on his inner thigh but not quiet as bad as the previous ones on his bum.

He has had chicken pox already. Doesn't look like any pictures I've ever seen of ring worm. He says that now the cream is on the antihistamine has relieved them and do not itch but the appearance is still the same.

Any thoughts would be welcome. Thankyou.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that your son is having lichen urticatus.,also known as papular urticaria.
It is hypersensitive reaction to insects.
There are itchy erythematous papular eruptions.

Give him antihistaminic..hydroxyzine HCL
Give him steroid in tappering dose
Apply calamine lotion
Avoid soap bath
Take all steps to reduce insects in home

It is benign condition and will clear completely in few weeks, but can relapse.

Thanks for query,
