Is Yellow Discoloration Of The Uvula A Symptom Of Infection?

I had a very swollen uvula two days ago along with a sore throat. I've been gargling salt water and taking ibuprofen which has made the swelling go but my uvula has gone slightly yellow? Theres no pain with swallowing just have a slightly sore throat and a blocked nose today. It's just the yellowing that gets me worried, is this a sign it is infected? It's confusing me because swelling has gone. Thank you.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you have a throat infection leading to Pharyngitis and Uvulitis leading to swelling and yellowish discolouration of the uvula..
As the swelling has gone now, you need not to worry as the discolouration will also resolve..
As you have a blocked nose and a sore throat then it can be probably viral infection..
As of now you can start with supportive treatment to relieve the symptoms like:
1. Gargle with a warm saline solution that is by mixing 1 teaspoon salt in a glass of water and warm it to make a luke warm solution..
2. Take a combination of decongestant like Phenylephrine, mucolytic like Ambroxol and anti allergic levocetrizine and another combination of Acetaminophen and Ibuprofen..
3. Do steam inhalations..
4. Avoid spicy and chilled foods..
5. Sip on warm water throughout the day..

In case of no improvement in a week consult a Physician and get evaluated..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
