Is Weight Lifting Safe When Suffering From Abdominal Hernia?

I have an abdominal hernia. I assume it is caused by having colon surgery and an ostomy bag which has since been reconnected. Question is how much weight can I safely lift? My surgeon said last month that we are just going to watch it. It is uncomfortable when standing but not all the time. Thanks,

Welcome to HCM.
I understand your concern.
Weight lifting is not advisable if you are a patient of hernia because each time you strain or lift weight(or do whatever that increased the pressure in abdomen), it is going to worsen the hernia.
I advise you to refrain from doing weight lifting exercise and do aerobic ones instead.

weight lifting could be dangerous in abdominal hernia it may aggravate the condition
You can stand up and walk with support or independent depending upon your strength or duration of surgery

maintain good hygiene have multivitamin supplements
