Is Weight Gain A Common Side Effect Of Gemzar?
Hello Dr. Rynne, my name is Pam. I am a 68 year old white female who has just started the chemo drug Gemzar, Next week I will receive Gemzar and Taxotere. But here is what s happening...after Tuesday s treatment of Gemzar I have gained 10 pounds of water weight. Is this common?

Gemzar is a brand name of Gemcitabine and it is a chemotherapy drug. Weight gain is not seen with Gemcitabine and actually weight loss is seen in some person taking Gemcitabine. The weight gain may be due to something else and have to be evaluated. Consult a physician of weight gain persist.
