Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mom got vitiligo at age of 55 and now my 5 year old nephew got a white dot and doctors diagnosed it as vitiligo. I am pregnant and would like to know if my unborn child has chances of getting the same? My family doesnt have history of vitiligo except my mother, who got it all of sudden at age of 55. Please advice
Genetics do play a role in the case of vitiligo. But genetics is not the only factor causing vitiligo.....its a whole set of genes and other environmental factors. I would suggest not to worry about it and just hope for the best.
i hope this answers your query. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns. wishing you and your child good health
