Is Ventolin Effective For Mucus In Chest?

Hi my daughter is 11 month old She has mucus in chest. When she breath sounds comes from her chest, when she sleep she breathed by opening her mouth. Local dr prescribed ventolin syrup zyrtec and myteka sachets. Seven days treatment I heard that ventolin used for asthma, and he is not prescribe any medicine for mucus.

Thanks for your question on HCM. In my opinion you should consult neonatologist. As mouth breathing with chest congestion needs evaluation. He may need nebulizer therapy. And may need chest x ray too. Ventorlin contains salbutamol and it is bronchodilator and this helps in bronchospasm not in mucus. So better to consult neonatologist. Common cause for mouth breathing in children are adenoids, tonsils, nasal blockage etc. So don't give over the counter drugs. Evaluate with specialist.
