General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

First wash the wound with soap and water for 10 mins. Vaccine is not required if the dog is properly vaccinated against rabies and the efficacy of the vaccine is confirmed by laboratory evidence. Otherwise better to take it post exposure vaccination.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vidya K. R., General & Family Physician
