Hi,

Androgenetic alopecia is characterized by progressive thinning & hair loss from the front, mid and vertex of the scalp.

It develops under influence of a male hormone called testosterone which gets converted to dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by an enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, present in hair follicles.

DHT is the main culprit that induces thinning and hair fall in this type of alopecia.

The tablet that you are taking Androfol M is a vitamin-amino acid-mineral supplement with the main component being biotin, glycine, arginine, selenomethionine, zinc and calcium pantothenate. It is not specific for androgenetic alopecia.

However, biotin and other components in it supports hair growth and therefore you can continue to take it.

Ferium XT tablet is a combination of Ferrous Ascorbate (Iron) and Folic Acid (vitamin B9). It is used to treat iron deficiency anaemia and nutritional anaemia.

Long term intake of these medications would not cause much harm as these are vitamin and mineral preparations.

Treatment that is proven to be effective and also FDA approved for androgenetic alopecia consists of the use of topical minoxidil solutions and oral finasteride.

You may need to add these medications for effective control of hair fall and hair regrowth. For the appropriate dosage and use of these medications, you need to consult Dermatologist for proper advise.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
