Is Urinary Retention With All Tests Being Normal A Concerning Matter?

I m 24 and male and have difficulty passing urine towards the end, meaning when I m close to being done I have to really push it out little by little and even massage my lower abs a little to make sure I squeezed everything out, is this normal? I had a lot of test done resently...blood,urine, physical, and they found nothing wrong.

Hi, I have read your query and understand your concern.

It would be worth knowing if you had any past history of infection in your urethra or any injury you had suffered in the past, which may damage urethra. Or if you are taking any medications or drugs that might affect urination. Sometimes, congenital (from birth) abnormalities of urethra may cause problems but that would be diagnosed at a younger age. Anyway, I would recommend that you see a urologist who might perform a test called Voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) to look for any problems of urethra and urinary bladder. Urologist will decide wether you need this test or not, depending on your past history and results of other investigations that you have already undergone.

hope this helps.
