Is Type 1 Diabetes, Symptomatic With Tiredness, Excess Urination And Blurred Vision?
What are the most common signs of type 1 diabetes? (I m 16 yo girl) My symptoms are: I ve been feeling extremely tired lately, peeing excessive amounts (but NEVER painful like a UTI), more thirsty than usual (but not extremely), blurry eyesight, and my periods have become VERY irregular. Someone said I might need to go to the dr. and get tested for type 1 diabetes. What would you suggest?

General & Family Physician, Dr. ABDL RAUF's Response
Although the symptoms of T1 Diabetes are variable . different individuals will present with different symptoms. sometimes it is possible patient is diagnosed incidentally even without any noticeable symptoms. The symptoms you have described are quite possible in the T1 diabetes. The best thing to do is to do A Blood sugar test . also called RBS = random blood sugar . it can be done by small needle prick on the tip of the finger or also by a venous blood taken through a sterile syringe . It is not very expensive and also will not take much time to give the result. In case your RBS is found high then you need to do some more tests . If it is normal then you dont have to worry for T1 DM.
