Is Trekking Safe While Suffering From Pneumonia?

I got diagnosed with pneumonia 4 days ago. I’ve been taking azithromycin everyday and my last pill is tomorrow. I was just wondering if it’s safe for me to go out to the mountains tomorrow. Will it make my pneumonia worse or am I ok since I’m on antibiotics?

Hello,

Pneumonia is infection of lung tissue which is solely responsible for oxygenating blood that is essential for energy production.

Trekking too on mountains needs a lot of energy which may not be available in the post pneumonia stage. The weakness of the disease and due to antibiotics brings the patient's stamina down. Both the things together resulting in either inability to trek or recurrence of the lung problem.

So, you should not proceed for treating unless there is full resolution of the disease &stamina has been built up to normal (would take at least 2 to 3 weeks of cure.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
