Is Tonsillectomy Advisable In Adults?

I am 44 yrs old and getting ready to have tonsils removed. I have read many stories that it's worse for adults and sometimes the pain gets worse before it get better. How much recovery time will I need. I have to admit I do not tolerate pain well at all. And how soon can I travel after the surgery?

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern.

As per your query you have symptoms of tonsillitis. Need not to worry as this is very common problem and this occur when infection is left untreated in your body and it is due to lowered body immunity . Visit ENT specialist once and get complete examination done. Tonsillectomy is done after no treatment remains effective and if that particular tonsils start bleeding and start interfering with your usual functions such as swallowing and breathing . I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles or betadine gargles 2-3 times a day and start vitamin C tablet for 10 days .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
