Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is This Dosage Of NovoRapid And Lantus Advisable For Diabetes?
I have Type 1 DM. I am Taking NovoRapid and Lantus for more than 15 years.Novorapid 14units at b/f, lunch and dinner and 20 units of L at bedtime. I heard that Lantus looses it efficacy after 12 hours after prolonged usage. Is it so? In that case does it make sense to split the dosage into 2?
From your description, I am of the opinion that You should not split Lantus into two dosages. Lantus is a glargine insulin, long-acting, lasts for 24 hours. You should adjust your dosage every 4th to 5th day according to your blood sugar levels.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
