Is This Dosage Of Gabapentin Advisable?

I have been on Gatapeten since May, after my second back operations 4 in the am and 4 in the pm. I stopped taking this medication for 2 weeks because of a viral infections. I got so sick again I went slowly back on the meds only taking 4 pills now. Could I have been on too much meds?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Maximum dosage of Gabapentine is 3 per day. The dose depends on severity of pain. You might have needed 8 pills after surgery. If you are symptom free with 4 pills only now, you can continue with it. After discussing it with your treating doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
