Is There Interaction Between Melatonin, Prednisone, Domperidone, Citalopram And Folic Acid?

Hi, I am having trouble sleeping and I had a friend recommend Melatonin to help but I take a number of medications daily, plaquenil, prednisone, monocor, HCT, losec, domperidone, citalopram, serc, crestor, slow k, folic acid, and vitamin d. just wondering if any of my meds will interact with the melatonin, I currently don t have a family doctor.

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, you are likely getting treatment for some autoimmune disorder like rheumatoid arthritis etc. The drugs you mentioned include two medicine, prednisolone and escitopram which can cause sleep disturbances.

It's better to complement it with a benzodiazepine like alprazolam before sleep instead of melatonin for few days and then use it as per requirement to adjust the sleep cycle. Escitopram may be used in the day and not after evening.
