Is There Any Side Effects Of Meftal-p And P-250 On Babies?
hi doc, my child of 2and half year age has suffered high fever for last three days without cough or cold. as doctor advised i have given him meftal-p eight hourly and p-250 in between whenever temperature raised to above 101 degree f. is there any side effect of the medicine? and can i use it as a regular fever medicine?

Meftal-P suspension contains mefenamic acid which belongs to the group of medications known as non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is used in the treatment of fever, pain and inflammation due to any causes. It works by blocking the chemical mediators in the body which are especially responsible for producing fever, pain or inflammation. Side effects of Meftal-P are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, heartburn, bloating, stomach upset, indigestion, sweating, weakness, allergic reactions etc.
On the other hand, P-250 contains acetaminophen or paracetamol which is used in the treatment of fever, headache, toothache, earache, musculoskeletal pain etc. Side effects of P-250 are nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, diarrhea, tiredness, indigestion, allergic reactions etc. If these side effects from these medications last for long, then you should inform your baby's doctor first for medical help. Both Meftal-P and P-250 are safe and effective medications for babies if they are given according to your baby's doctor. Before using or stopping these medications, you should consult your baby's doctor first.
