Hi. My TSH levels are slightly high, (range: 0.4 - 4.2) Actual value : 5.78. Dr has suggested Thyronorm 25mcg tablets for 6 weeks. Also I have not got mensus from past 2 months. So i got the thyroid test done and found that TSH is high, Is it advisable to take this tablet? Is there is any natural way in which I can get my TSH levels to normal ? I am not sure why TSH level got high,
Hi, 1. It is advisable to take the tablet. Since you TSH is high you are having hypothyroidism. The safe and effective treatment for that is thyroxine tablets. You have to bring down your TSH below 3 miu/l if you are in a reproductive age group 2. If you are from an iodine deficient area you can increase the iodine content in diet (increase iodized salt, sea foods; decrease raw cabbage, cauliflower, tapioca) 3. High TSH is due to hypothyroidism - 2 common causes are auto immune disease and iodine deficiency
