Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
hello and welcome to HCM,
There is a group of kidney diseases which cause loos of albumin in urine.
Albumin is a protein present in blood.
Normally it is not excreted in urine.
Due to disease of the kidneys, albumin is lost in urine.
Albumin is responsible for maintaining oncotic pressure in body.
Thus, loss of albumin leads to swelling.
Giving the albumin resolved the swellings and provided symptomatic relief.
However, treatment consists of treatment of the underlying kidney disease.
You need to undergo renal function tests, urine test and renal biopsy.
Renal biopsy will determine the exact cause of the symptoms and thus help to institute therapy.
You need to consult a nephrologist for further work up.
You also need to stay in touch with your obstetrician since management will have to be done taking care of the pregnancy.

Thanks and take care
