Is There Any Doctor Available To Analyse This Report?

Hello, I have ITP and I really want my tongue pierced. My last blood test was in March of 2012 and my count was 72,000. Should I get a blood test first or should I ask my doc to prescribe me prednisone to temporarily keep my platelets up for the piercing?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

It is best to first get a platelet count done and then to take measures to control the bleeding during the procedure. Taking prednisone without doing a platelet count is not advised. You may also ask your doctor for other precautions to take in such a condition while getting tongue piercing done. Please confirm that the tongue piercing is done by professionals who maintain high standards of hygiene.
