Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
A friend of mine had high blood pressure and had a stroke...he recently died due to low blood pressure. He was supposed to be released to a nursing home when he passed. I am confused as to how someone with high blood pressure could die of low blood pressure and wonder if there was any wrongdoing...
Low blood pressure can be due to several underlying causes including a Weakened Heart Muscle, Pericarditis, Pulmonary embolism and bradycardia. Some of these are serious and could cause the death of someone therefore I am guessing he did not die from low blood pressure, just like you don't die from high blood pressure. Instead he died from the underlying cause of the low blood pressure.
