Is There Any Alternate For Tirosint Pills To Cure Hypothyroid?

Good afternoon. I just realized that our insurance company is not covering Tirosint pills anymore (hypothyroid for 14 years, 46 y F, 125 p). I was very happy and satisfied with this medication. What would be your suggestion for pill replacement? Reading to much of a customers reviews makes me confused. To many choices... Thank you.

Hi. Welcome to HCM. Tirosint is a brand-name for levothyroxine sodium and it is a thyroid hormone replacement drug used to treat hypothyroidism. The levothyroxine in Tirosint is in a liquid form, inside a soft gelatin capsule. It is the first and only liquid levothyroxine in a capsule. Other brand name levothyroxine drugs are in tablet form. Tirosint comes with each capsule in a blister pack, not loose in a bottle and the blister pack is marked to help prevent patients from missing doses. It is marketed and distributed by Akrimax Pharmaceuticals, and manufactured by IBSA Institut Biochimique,a privately-owned, global pharmaceutical company headquartered in Lugano, Switzerland. Since it is the only available liquid form of thyroid hormone their is no substitute for this as per my knowledge. I suggest u to consult your treating doctor and he will decide if u can be put on other thyroid medications (which are not in gel form) which your insurance will cover. Regards
