Is There An Alternative Of Albuterol Sulfate?

I think I had an allergic reaction to my albuterol inhaler. After taking it, I experienced a racing heart, shakiness, which lead to a feeling of uncontrolled anger (very unlike me), then it triggered vertigo, nausea, diarrhea, vomitting, a cough (five days later I still have), and extreme fatigue. Is there an alternative to albuterol sulfate?

Hi and Welcome to 'Ask a Doctor' service .
I have read your question and here is my advice .
You are very right that racing heart, shakiness, and nervous tension are common adverse effects of Beta-2-Agonists (Albuterol ). So yes, this may well be your drug. This generally occur with all Beta-2-Agonists, but may be less with long acting drugs , besides this there can be other choices like anticholinergic , or reducing dose of it with added steroids , that all may help your problem , so talk to your doctor.
Hopes we will find a better alternative for you .
Hope this clears your mind. I would be happy to answer if you have any thing else to ask in this regards.
I find this answer helpful
