I had a stent put in my right leg this past Monday because of clogged aurtories. I have been a smoker for many years and had cut back from nearly 2 pks a day to less than half a pack before the surgery. I have high blood pressure. I have panic attacks/anxiety and have taken .25 xanax substitute since the 1980 s. I take 1/2 of that .25 tablet as needed. Sometimes a 30-day prescription would last up to a year, but I have never had to take a 30-day presc in 30 days. In other words I do not abuse it! During the last couple of years it is really hard to get a prescription for it. I had hardware removed from back because of spinal fusion problems 11 years ago and the antheseologist gave me a prescription because I was so nervous about having the surgery. That was Feb 12, 2015. There are still 10 pills left. The recent surgery and quitting smoking at the same time is taking its toll on me. No one will give me a prescription for the xanax to help me thru all this. I will be 70 yrs old in August. Is there something to substitute that a doctor doesn t mind prescribing in its place. I don t want anything that makes me a zombie, just want to level off!
