Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

It's unfortunate that your child has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Cerebral palsy is a common term but has many subtypes in it. we need to know about what type of cerebral palsy that your child has, such as spastic type or hypotonic or choreoathetoid type and any associated problems like developmental delay, seizures etc.

We need to assess the child clinically to decide on further management. There is treatment for cerebral palsy but no definite cure. Some require physiotherapy alone and some may require medications along with physiotherapy.

Many children with milder form of cerebral palsy do well with minimal supportive care. I would suggest you to get a pediatric neurologists opinion, who can guide on further management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nirubhan Bharathy, Pediatrician
