Is There A Clinical Evidence To Suggest Left L5 Nerve Root Impingement?

An MRI report reads "a 1x 0.6cm left synovial cyst is anteriorly displacing and possibly impinging the traversing left L5 nerve root. Is there clinical evidence to suggest left L5 nerve root impingement?" What kind of clinical evidence does this mean? My pain is in my lower back and down into my right leg, not my left leg.

Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

If the MRI of your lumbosacral spine states that the cyst is impinging the left L5 nerve root, the pain and the sensory changes should be located at your back and left leg in the lateral part of the calf and possibly stopping at your left big toe.

This cyst is not responsible for your symptoms, unless there was a mistake regarding to MRI report or images.

So, other conditions of your lumbosacral spine such discs bulge, bone spurs etc. on the right side, should be considered.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Kind regards.
