Hi,

Your symptoms are most likely due to a condition called varicose veins. Varicose veins are enlarged, swollen, and twisting veins, often appearing blue or dark purple. They happen when faulty valves in the veins allow blood to flow in the wrong direction or to pool. If there are symptoms, treatment may be required to reduce pain or discomfort, address complications, such as leg ulcers, skin discoloration, or swelling. Surgery may be required in certain patients. Exercise and watch your weight and your diet. Shedding excess pounds takes unnecessary pressure off your veins. Avoid high heels. Elevate your legs. Avoid long periods of sitting or standing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Saranya Ramadoss, General & Family Physician
