Is The Presence Of Nicotine In The Blood A Result Of Passive Smoking?

In my house a 58 year old man who does not smoke recently took a blood test and was found to have nicotine in his blood stream. I smoke however the extent of his exposure is limited to less than 10 times in 5 years and has only been in passing, opening a door to outside for 30 seconds to 1 minute and closing it. Could the traces found be from my smoking, or possibly from after I smoke when I come inside?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Nicotine in blood can be detected in people who smoke actively as well as passively.
Since, you are smoking, nicotine will be present in your blood stream.
However, the other person who is exposed to passive smoke can also have nicotine in his/ her blood.

Thanks and take care
