Is The Discoloration Of A Bruise Post An Injury Normal?

The question is really about my mother. She fell last week in a parking lot. The brunt of her injury was born by her left knee, which swelled up pretty large and she was treated at the ER. Over the weekend, while having it wrapped, iced and raised, the bruising is turning dark purple; in fact her whole leg is numb and purple. She is not complaining of pain. Is the discoloration at her age (80) normal?

Hi ....Can understand your concern...As per your query about discolouration of wound is probably due to dissolving haematoma or clot but you need to rule out for any internal bleeding as well as you need to go for an xray done as you mentioned there is numbness in leg..I hope the information helps you.Take care.
