Is The Common Side Effect Of Chewing Tobacco Is Acid Reflux?

I quit chewing tobacco 24 days ago. I suffer from acid reflux and have been taking Pantoprazol 40mg a day for 5 years now. I thought my reflux would be better without Copenhagen, but it appears to be a lot worse. Is this a common side effect of qutting? Will it go away eventually?

Dear Friend.
Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I have read your query in detail. I understand your concern.

Yes, chewing tobacco , smoking and even alcohol consumption can cause Acid Reflux but is not a side effect of quitting.

However, it can occur as you had done it for long.

I advise you following:
1. Combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone once a day
2. Soft Bland diet
3. To walk after each meal you take.

This is my best opinion for you based on available details. If you have any further query please ask me =
