Is Taking Motrin Safe For Muscle Sprain In Rib Area Radiating Towards Back?

I have a severe muscle sprain in my rib area that radiates to my back. I went to my Dr. today and she gave me Tramadol 50mg to take at night since I can t get comfortable so I can sleep. The Tramadol doesn t seem to be helping much. Can I take an 800 Motrin to help?

Hi,
You can take Motrin 8oo mg with antacid instead of Tramadol.
Tramadol is good analgesic as well.
But many a time if there is spasm of muscle along with sprain, analgesic might not be effective.
In such case along with analgesic you should take some muscle relaxant medicine as well.
Ok and take care.
