Hello,
Vitamin D3 less than a level of 10ng/l indicates she a deficiency of vitamin D for which treatment is essential as it may lead to nutritional
rickets leading to many bony malformations...(I think you might have consulted the doctor due to those symptoms).
The usual management if the vitamin D level less than 10ng/l is the following
1) 60,000IU of vitamin D injection (which is your
Arachitol 6l) daily or alternate days till it reaches a maximum of total dose
6,00,000IU or
2) also lower levels of vitamin D daily for 3 months are also being given depending upon the age group followed by a maintenance dose of vitamin D.
It is very important for the patient to receive oral calcium (30-75mg/kg) for 2 months.
The best method to check the adequacy of the therapy is that if the therapy is adequate most patient will show radiological evidence of healing within 4 weeks also.
To conclude:
1) I can’t actually know the adequate level of vitamin d needed without knowing the age of your doctor
2) Discuss with your doctor whether these criteria are fulfilled.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
