Is Swollen Arm Pit And Lump In Breast Sign Of Cancer?

i am 46 years old menopause. i didn't had medical insurance for almost 3 years that's why i missed my mammo for almost 2 years. anyway, 2 days ago, i had a short striking pain in my chest and i tried to look where it's coming from. i felt some swelling in my left armpit and had felt small pea size between my left armpit and my breast. i went for my clinical breast exam this morning and was told nothing to worry about it but i'm scheduled for mammogram this jan 8th. i was advised to get a bra without the underwire and get a size 2 times bigger. is this something for me to worry about? is it a cancer symptom? what caused the pea to appear to begin with? your help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Health care magic.

1.Lump in the axillary region - probable cause is lymph nodal enlargement.
2.Lymph nodal enlargement is seen in presence of local / systemic inflammation and infection, presence of malignancy / cancer.
3.Your doctor has examined the breast and did not find any lump - but probably he want to rule out the possible pathologies / cancer / malignancy with out lump/mass.
4.Like tiny micro calcifications are not palpated and not seen on the ultrasound - only seen on mammogram ( probably doctor want to rule out).
5.An ultrasound is done in correlation with the mammogram, small lesions which are hard to assess on mammogram can be identified on the ultrasound ( ducts dilatation, inflammatory changes ).
Only after imaging one can come to conclude, definitive will be FNAC - fine needle aspiration cytology / BIOPSY.

Hope it helps you. Wish you a good health.
