Is Swallowing 500 Mg Tylenol By A Toddler A Cause For Concern?

Hi, my two and a half year old son may have swallowed a 500 mg extra strength tylenol. I had a few in my pocket when I went to read him a book; I could only find one pill. I searched feverishly in his bed for the missing pill. I could not find it. I guess I want to know what could happen if he did swallow it as I don t know. And I am panicking thinking about it.

Hi,
If he had taken one or two tablets of paracetamol 500 mg then it won't cause any problem certainly.
The toxic dose of PCM is 150 mg/kg and fatal dose 300 mg/kg,so we if count your son's weight is apprx 15 kg then his toxic dose will be 2250mg and fatal dose will be 3000 mg.
So,its clear now 1 or 2 tablet of PCM 500 mg won't cause any symptoms.
You can induce vomiting otherwise, when came to know about this,within half an hour to expel out the tablet,still if there are any symptoms then you immediately go to pediatrician for antidote ( acetylcystiene).
No need to worry.
