Is Surgery Required For Treating A Pilonidal Cyst, Which Leaks With Blood?
I was recently diagnosed with a piolindal cyst, I ve had it before where I took antibiotics it popped and that was it. This time around I have been taking antibiotics, it popped yesterday but a small bump still remains which is slowly leaking with blood, is this normal. Will I need surgery?
1. As you are a diagnosed case and undergone a surgical procedure, the problem with a pilonidal cyst is that, because it a common primary care problem due to frequent and time-consuming wound care, continue with regular dressing and drugs prescribed by your physician.
2. As you have noticed blood coming out of the cyst thus it could be infected and although you were prescribed a broad spectrum antibiotic, remember that this won't heal the sinus tract but will give relief from infection and discomfort, so I will definitely recommend you to check with your attending doctor for regular follow-ups as he will be in a better position to take decision of conservative method or surgical procedure, till then maintain a good personal hygiene [keep the area as clean and dry as possible]
