Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Surgery Needed For Laryngitis And Paralyzed Vocal Cords?
Have a bad case of sore throat and laryngitis, on top of paralyzed vocal cords from a 2008 stroke. Can I correct this by myself, or do I need a surgical or medical procedure to correct this? I am on permanent disability, and use both Medicaid and Medicare to cover all costs.
Your symptoms could be due to Laryngitis like Larynx inflammation. For that indirect laryngoscopy examination should be done to visualize Larynx and vocal cord.
If inflammation is present than short-term steroid course in low dose can be prescribed.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami,
General & Family Physician
