Is Spinal Decompression Surgery A Complicated Procedure?

I am a 70 year old type2 diabetic in need of decompression back surgery. While surgeons downplay potential s, others. Say the risks of heart attacks, strokes, blood clots, and the likes. Should I learn to live with pain and pain meds ... or has technology made such procedures less complicated? Thanks, Ohio I understand each case must be examined individual, yet at my age, an extended recovery of unknown duration must offer a decent percentage of ambulances recovery
