Is Slight Throat Infection, Dizziness With Slightly Elevated BP Normal?

Have been training for a marathon for 3 months. Last 2 weeks have had slight throat infection and slight dizziness when walking around but feel perfectly normal when running for 1 to 3 hours while training for a marathon. Last year had slightly elevated blood pressure for about 3 weeks after completing a marathon event then things returned to normal. I am 69 years old and weigh approx. 160 lbs. Is there anything I should do?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
It is bound that systolic blood pressure elevated due to hard exercises or running for marathon. In my opinion same thing happened with you ,so that was a normal thing.
But throat infection is in a runner is not normal in any way , so for this you must consult an E N T specialist and get his opinion as throat swab will help in detecting type of bacteria ( or pathogens ) .
So throat swab for culture and drug sensitivity is the best solution .Good luck.
