Is Slight Dilation Of Pancreatic Duct With A Hypoechoic Lesion In Pancreatic Bed A Cause For Concern?

I had NF NET of pancreatic head 2013 with whipple surgery. Respected, no positive nodes. According to surgical report cleared margin less than 1 mm posterior pancreatic area which concerned me. All labs normal now, but had ultrasound which showed slight dilation of pancreatic duct (which was noted 18 months ago also), but now shows hypoechoic lesion in pancreatic bed. 1.7cm x 1.3cm x 0,9cm. What could this represent? (My initial tumor was very indolent...surgeon said they almost considered it benign..) Thank you

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Though the previous tumor was benign, the current hypoechoic lesion of 1.7 x 1.3 cm should not be neglected and the pathological diagnosis must be availed via CT guided biopsy which is more than 98% accurate.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel,
