Is Severe Vaginal Pain Post Intercourse Suggestive Of Infection?
I am experiencing severe vaginal pain. My husband and I had intercourse on Saturday night and he blew up a rubber balloon and inserted into my vagina as a form of foreplay. I am experiencing major pressure. I am not sure what to do or if this has cause an infection. I do not have a fever.
It is possible that the pain may be related to the trauma to the vaginal structures from the balloon.
In that case, treatment would consist of sitz baths and the use of NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, voltaren etc) to help reduce the body's inflammatory response. Sitz baths, 2 to 3 times daily for 15 to 20 mins may help to heal your discomfort. Warm water with epsom salts or table salt can be used.
If there is no improvement after 24 to 36 hours or there is worsening , then you should see your doctor for an assessment.
I hope this helps
