Is Severe Back Pain Post Colonoscopy A Matter Of Concern?

I had a colonoscopy Thursday. Beginning on Friday night I began to have what feels like a pulled muscle on my left back side. They did remove one polyp but I was told it was the benign kind. It feels like I pulled a muscle but very painful. Should I be concerned and call the doctor?

Hi,
Welcome To HCM & Thanks For Asking Your Query Here

However colonoscopy itself do not cause any ill effects on your back muscles internally but many people complaints for back pain after colonoscopy and it can be related to your position during the procedure , also during procedure you might have tighten your back muscles in reflex reaction , all this may lead to muscle stiffness in back

You should do proper rest and should not do prolong sitting or standing , a warm water bags application to back can also help , along with this you can use over the counter pain medications like ibuprofen and muscle relaxant like thiocholchicoside to relieve pain

but if your symptoms and pain do not subside within 3-7 days than i would strongly suggest you to see Your dr for further evaluation of problem

I hope it help
