Is Riding A Rollercoaster Safe While Suffering From Hernia?

Is it safe to ride a rollercoaster with a large fibroid tumor and hernia? Im scheduled for surgery at the end of august.. My son is in town visiting and are going to six flags tomorrow. I have Pepcid and medications for the acids, but otherwise is it safe to ride these rides? Thank you Kristen

Hello Kristen
Thanks for writing to us.

Riding on Roller coaster once in a while does not push the stomach into the chest cavity but the jerky movements may worsen the gastric acidity thus aggravating the symptoms like nausea, vomiting, pain in chest, feeling of fullness, burning pain in chest etc.
Before going to ride a roller coaster you must take adequate precautions to neutralize the gastric acid already present in the stomach by taking some good and effective antacid like gelusil.

I hope I have solved your query. Still If you feel like asking me anything, then feel free to write me.

Thanks
Dr. Tripat Mehta
