Is Regular Intake Of Emergency Contraceptive Pills Safe?

I missed my birth control and also had unprotected sex. I'm on Microgestin 1.5/30 COC. My first week went okay, and now I am on my second week. I had unprotected sex on THU and also missed my birth control on THU and FRI. On Saturday I took 2 active pills and I plan to take 2 active pills tomorrow, Sunday. Is emergency contraceptive recommended? I've taken it 2 times in the past and it has made me feel ill and I hesitate taking it if unnecessary.

PS Your history in the late 70s and early 80s with your priest muttering "mutilation" and selling illegal condoms makes for some great reading.

Hi Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Regular intake of emergency contraceptive pills is not recommended. It can cause serious side effects like irregular periods, ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome & even infertility by permanently affecting your menstruation.
Also you have unprotected sex on thrusday, therefore emergency contraceptive pills would not be succesful in preventing pregnancy. You should try to take your microgestin pills regularly, so that they could be fully effective. You could also set a reminder on your phone for that or other method to remind you to take your pill regularly.
You could also use Depo shot, IUD, contraceptive patch or other method which provide long term contraception.

Refer to your gynaecologist for more queries

Hope this information helps
