Hi,

Your mother may be suffering from endometriosis. Though not exactly an infection, it affects the lining of the uterus which causes pain and bleeding. This is common in perimenopausal women meaning women around the age of attaining menopause. The medication prescribed is correct and should be taken in the complete course. Though if the symptoms don't subside, I would suggest you do a repeat scan and look for endometrial thickness. Analgesics can be tried for the pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
