Is Red Skin Pigmentation A Side Effect Of Enfalac?

When i start feeding my 20 days old baby with enfalac, she strarted to have high fever. We sent her to ER and she is back home now but the fever is back again. Whenever we fed her, her skin shows obvious reddish pigmentation. Is that a symptom that she is not suitable for drinking enfalac?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

According to the recent studies, infants who are on formula feeding like Enfalac have a higher chance of getting allergic reactions compared with those infants who are on breastfeeding. If the formula drips onto your infant's skin, then it may develop reddish pigmentation or rashes as a result of allergic reactions. Such type of allergic reactions may be noticed either very quickly just after feeding or slowly after few days later and this slower type of reaction is common than the quicker onset. Again, Enfalac may cause serious symptoms of allergic reactions like rashes or reddening of skin, itching, swelling of lips, tongue, throat, face, eyes, hands or feet, wheezing, breathing difficulties etc. If such type of allergic reactions are noticed, then stop feeding the formula immediately and inform your infant's doctor promptly for medical help.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
