Is Random Blood Sugar Level Of 122 A Cause For Concern?

My blood sugar was ranging anywhere between 52-74. I was told.by the nutritionist that I needed to start eating breakfast and lunch. Stop skipping meals. My blood sugar levels have been ranging 80-90. This morming my blood sugar level without fasting was 122. Is 122 to high a blood sugar level?

Hello my name is Dr.Dorina Gurabardhi.
For someone without diabetes, a fasting blood sugar on awakening should be under 100 mg/dl. Before-meal normal sugars are 70–99 mg/dl. “Postprandial” sugars taken two hours after meals should be less than 140 mg/dl.
So you should control it for several days in the morning and than 2 hours after having breakfast.
Another analysis that you should have is glycated haemoglobin.By measuring glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c), we are able to get an overall picture of what our average blood sugar levels have been over a period of weeks/months.
Hope my answer was helpful, if you have any other questions I'll be glad to help, thanks!

Ayurveda Specialist Dr. Alka Sharma's  Response
Hello,
I just read your query. 122 random blood sugar level is absolutely normal. Random blood sugar level may vary from 110 to 140. So no need to worry.
However fasting blood sugar level should be between 70 to 110.
* I hope you find my answer helpful.
Thank you.
